Past Post Commander, June 2008 -2013
Commander Thomas enlisted in the New York Army National Guard in 1975 and transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve in 1980. She served a total of 31 years in
the military before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2006.
During her long and distinguished career, LTC
Thomas served as a military police officer, a transportation officer, a
maintenance officer, a logistician, a training officer and an Inspector
General. Assignments included the 42nd
Aviation Battalion, 364th Support Group, 301st Area
Support Group, 77th USARCOM, 77th RSC, the 78th
Training Division, and the US Army Reserve Command.
Awards earned along the way include the Bronze Star, Iraq
Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Cold War Medal, 3 Meritorious
Service Medals, 5 Army Commendation Medals, 3 Army Achievement Medals, Military
Outstanding Volunteer Medal, 2 National Defense Ribbons, Overseas Training
Ribbon, 5 Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbons, 3 New York Military
Commendation Medals, New York Aid to Civil Authorities Medal, New
York Humane Service Medal and New York Army National Guard Recruiting and
Retention Ribbon.
