Parades and Ceremonies

Rusy Bohm Post 411 has long maintained an active presence on committees that bring first-class Memorial Day parades, reverential Veterans Day observances and celebratory Flag Day celebrations to people of the Islips.  Exchanging leads with comrades at AMVETS Post 18 and the American Legion 4-S Post 1635 in East Islip, and closely supported by friends from the Marine Corps League, local high school music programs, businesses, clubs and Town government, we've been doing so for decades.

Our simple rewards are the many smiles on faces of those who line our parade routes and the broad respect afforded us by crowds who attend our ceremonial affairs.  Please keep a few hours open this coming November 11, June 14 and Memorial Day weekend to showcase both for us again.

Next on the Schedule -  2013 Memorial Day Parade

Planning for the next Town of Islip Memorial Day parade is well underway.  This year's event will step off from Carlton Avenue in East Islp at 10 a.m. on May 27th and march west along Main Street to the monument in front of Islip Town Hall, where Veterans group spokesmen and legislative officials will deliver remarks.  Expect bands, emergency serviced, antique vehicles, horsemen, singers and historical/youth/community groups to be well represented in our long line of march.

Help spread the word to ensure a good turnout by downloading and posting our colorful event flyer above.  Requests for participation are both welcome and encouraged.  Contact the Post for information.
